David Campton was the Stephen Joseph Theatre's first resident playwright and was a key fixture with the company from 1955 to 1965. His writing was encouraged by Stephen Joseph and he was an early proponent of 'Theatre of Menace'. His plays are an essential part of the SJT's formative years.
